The First Mechanical Mitral Valve Engineered Specifically for the Mitral Position

Restoring physiologic intracardiac flow through anatomical asymmetry and engineering precision.

Vortica reproduces the heart’s design – restoring physiological, vortex-driven flow

Our Vision & Our Objectives

Unlike other cardiac valves, the mitral valve’s complex and asymmetric geometry is essential for generating the intraventricular vortex that sustains efficient left ventricular performance.

Conventional valve replacements often abolish the physiological vortex, leading to disturbed intraventricular flow and impaired ventricular efficiency. In contrast to traditional circular mechanical valves adapted from aortic designs, Mythralica’s prosthesis replicates the D-shaped anatomy and functional asymmetry of the native mitral valve.

Mythralica (our design) restores physiological vortex formation by preserving the native valve’s geometric asymmetry, thereby re-establishing natural flow dynamics and energy-efficient ejection.

Our objective is to advance a next-generation mechanical mitral valve that enhances long-term patient outcomes by replicating the heart’s native structure-function relationship.

Physiological Vortex

Recreates native rotational flow for efficient ejection and facilitating vortex formation

Lower Stasis

Aims to minimize flow stagnation, the principal contributor to thrombus formation and anticoagulation dependence

Better Recovery

Designed to promote physiological ventricular mechanics and support post-operative recovery

Our Values

Enhanced Hemodynamics

Asymmetrical leaflets optimize blood flow, improving cardiac output — especially during exertion.

Safety Through Design

Natural flow reduces stagnation and turbulence, lowering the risk of clot formation.

Preserved Vortex Function

The heart’s natural rotational flow returns, aiding self-cleaning and energy efficiency.

Better Long-Term Outcomes

Improved function, reduced heart failure risk, and a better life for patients of all ages.

Why Mythralica?

Tailor-Made for the Mitral Position

No other mechanical valve is designed specifically for this purpose.

Based on Today’s Science — Not 1970s Concepts

We address what others overlooked: mitral asymmetry and vortex dynamics.

Solid Market Foundation

Surgical mitral valve replacement is growing, and mechanical options still outperform biological ones in younger patients.

Faster Path to Market

Our product requires lower investment and development time than transcatheter solutions.

Our Team

Experienced Innovators

The Mythralica team includes world-class experts in cardiac surgery, biomedical engineering, and structural heart innovation. Our credibility and clinical insight drive our mission to redefine mitral valve replacement.
